Demonstrate an understanding of the purpose of change, release and patch management

Knowledge and/or Skills
♦ Definition, purpose and operation of change management
♦ Definition, purpose and operation of release management
♦ Definition, purpose and operation of patch management
♦ Functions of change, release and patch management
♦ Inter-relationships and dependencies of change, release and patch management
Evidence Requirements
Candidates will need to provide evidence to demonstrate their Knowledge and/or Skills by showing that they can:
♦ define change, release and patch management.
♦ understand the scope and operation of change management processes including hardware, software, configuration, communications equipment, documentation, users and procedures.
♦ know the operation and lifecycle of change processes including identification, recording, classification, implementing, managing, reporting and closure.
♦ understand the scope and types of release/patch processes covering hardware, software, communications equipment and software/firmware, software licences, documentation and reporting.
♦ understand the operation of change management including RFC (Request for Change), DHS (Definitive Hardware Store), DSL (Definitive Software Library), testing, training and deployment.
♦ demonstrate knowledge of change processes relationships and dependencies: change management, release management, patch management, problem management and configuration management.
Evidence for all the Knowledge and/or Skills in this Outcome must be assessed with Outcomes 1, 2 and 4.
